Retail Stores

Facility managers responsible for retail store remodeling projects are confronted with issues that are unique when compared to other disciplines.  For the most part, renovation projects must be completed when the store is closed to the public.  Merchandise must be left in place and when the work is completed each night, the store must be ready in the morning for business as usual.  Sales personnel should be busy selling merchandise, not cleaning up behind a messy contractor.

The strict maintenance of fire-retardant and acoustical qualities of the ceiling must be maintained and/or even improved. And a bright white ceiling allows the natural color of the products to be appreciated by the customer. Budgets are also an issue, making it necessary to spread the budget-dollar as far as possible.  Money that is saved on ceilings can be utilized in other areas of need.

Also, a “quick fix” is not the answer if, as a result, the appearance is anything short of new.  If the renovation of the space is to be managed by a general contractor (a major project), specifications need to be prepared to ensure that the project is completed in accordance with the owner’s standards.  Project Specifications and technical information on all products are available by simply clicking on the following icon.

Preventative maintenance is also an issue when it comes to acoustical ceilings.  A simple water stain can ruin a perfectly fine ceiling, as can a workman’s fingerprint.  ProCoat’s Acoustical Tile Restorer in Aerosol allows maintenance personnel to touch up the spot in a one-step application.  And the East Reach Spray Adapter allows this to be done without a ladder. Other maintenance products are also available.

Acoustical Ceiling Restoration
An Attractive Alternative
to Ceiling Replacement

Every facility manager is frequently confronted with one or more projects where budgets are tight and scheduling is critical.  If the final design calls for an acoustical tile that is similar to the one presently installed and that ceiling is structurally sound (the ceiling tiles are dry, flat, and unbroken) acoustical ceiling restoration is an ideal alternative to replacement with new tiles.

Perhaps, a color change is required.  The up-charge for new tiles in a special color is quite high and the wait time for delivery can be difficult from a scheduling viewpoint.  ProCoustic can be provided in virtually any color, at a fraction of the replacement cost, without a lengthy time delay.

A ceiling that has been restored, using ProCoustic to attain a new white surface finish, will disperse more light, hold its color longer, and absorb more sound, than if a new ceiling were installed.  That is why it is commonly accepted that when it comes to acoustical ceilings, new are not necessarily better.

The environment is also a concern of many retailers who would rather recycle the existing ceiling materials rather than to add to the land-fill through the replacement process.

Getting it Done

While there are many painting contractors who are capable of applying ProCoat’s products, not all of them are proficient in meeting the unique requirements of the retail industry.  ProCoat’s Contract Services program was designed for the retailers and can be of considerable worth to the project manager.

Retailers with locations throughout a large geographic area would particularly benefit from Contract Services National Account Program. The ability to dial one phone number, regardless of the project locations, is only one of the many benefits of this program. Others include standardized pricing, manufacturer rebates, and more efficient project management.

If you have project-specific questions or require the assistance of a local dealer, ProCoat’s professionals are available by simply calling (781) 767-2270.
